The 35-year-old and ten of her pals swam 40 lengths in Westbury Swimming Pool, did a 16-mile bike ride and completed the challenge with a four-mile run ending in Horton. It took the plucky ladies three and a half hours to complete the course.

Raising cash

Thanks to their efforts, they raised more than £1,000 for the charity Mencap, which helps people with learning difficulties. Ms Martin has a personal reason for contributing to the cause. Her 21-year-old cousin Jonathan Doel has fragile X syndrome, which means he has the mental age of a child. He attends a college that’s funded by Mencap.

No doubt the organisation was grateful for the contribution made by these selfless hens.

Decked out in style

The hens were pictured wearing plenty of hen party supplies, helping them to get into the spirit of the occasion. They certainly looked the part and seemed to be having plenty of fun, despite the fact they were getting stuck into in such a difficult challenge.
